The Lavender Connection: News from Fragrant Isle

Washington Island’s first lavender farm, Fragrant Isle, immediately struck a positive chord with the Island’s many visitors. Within a few years it became known “the Midwest’s Largest Lavender Farm,” a tribute to the vision and care that made the location a must-see for most travelers.

To celebrate the business’s sixth anniversary, owners Edgar and Martine Anderson have expanded their fields with the recent addition of 6,000 new lavender plants and more rose gardens. The additions have increased the grand total to 20,000 fragrant lavender plants for Island visitors to savor and enjoy.

For 2018, Fragrant Isle’s restaurant, Le Petit Bistro, is offering a daily à la carte lunch menu and a delectable selection of chocolates, candies, ice cream and macaroons. Visitors can experience mouth-watering food and drink on the café terrace, which overlooks an unparalleled view of the farm’s lavender fields, all of it surrounded by the Island’s natural beauty.

You can also explore Door County’s largest selection of lavender-based products at Fragrant Isle’s Shop, which has two locations, at the Fragrant Isle farm on Washington Island and in the Top of The Hill Shops in Fish Creek. The entire Fragrant Isle line is “Made in the USA” with sustainably grown and pesticide-free lavender. At both shop locations, you can sample a selection of over 150 lavender products, each made for external use from head-to-toe, and formulated to be both good for you and the environment.

Reserve a table at Le Petite Bistro on select dates to enjoy fine dining and live music on the restaurant’s terrace. Gourmet dinners are being offered on June 27, July 18, Aug. 2, Aug. 15, Sept. 5 and Sept. 19. Visit Fragrant Isle’s website for more details: www.fragrantisle.com.

A new series of two-day special events is being offered throughout the season, beginning in June and concluding in September. (Visit website for more event dates and details.)

What else is new? Fragrant Isle is proud to be a Discover Wisconsin 2018 Choice Destination and a 2017 Trip Advisor Award of Excellence recipient.
