Fragrant Isle Lavender Farm, Shop & Le Café, the Midwest’s biggest Lavender Farm, and located on our own Washington Island, has grown from 9,000 lush lavender plants to more than 20,000 in just a few short years. The founders and owners, Edgar and Martine Anderson, are proud that Fragrant Isle has become one of the premier agri-tourism destinations for lavender. The Andersons say their mission is always to educate visitors about lavender and its many benefits and uses, all while enjoying the unique farm’s beauty and tranquility.
This year the Andersons promise the lavender fields and floral gardens will be even more spectacular. “We understand our visitors want more to experience, additional educational opportunities and new ways to enjoy lavender,” notes Edgar. “Our new Lavender Field Experience features a self-guided farm tour, expanded floral gardens, educational demonstrations, video showings in the Production Barn, and Le Café’s outdoor dining terrace, with its weekly luncheon menus.” You can also enjoy lavender massages in a new massage gazebo, said Anderson, which offers 30 or 60-minute massages. One of the best things about Fragrant Isle is the opportunity to learn about lavender from expert growers and knowledgeable staff. The site’s 20,000 lavender plants represent the highest standards, from budding plants to finished products. The company uses the latest in farming technology to grow lavender plants in an all-natural environment and is both sustainably grown and pesticide-free. No chemicals are ever used.
Visitors can enjoy Le Café’s fresh Grab N Go sandwiches and salads, purchase Fragrant Isle lavender plants, or pick their own lavender bundle in the U Pick field. Visiting the blooming lavender fields and gardens is an amazing experience (small fee required). For 2020, the Fragrant Isle season starts May 1, and is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm.
Explore Fragrant Isle’s “All Things Lavender”, Door County’s largest selection of luxurious lavender products, available at both the Washington Island shop and a boutique in Fish Creek at The Top of The Hill Shops. Fragrant Isle only works with select U.S. vendors to produce its products, and you can sample a selection of hundreds of lavender items made for use from head-to-toe and formulated to be both good for you and the environment.
The two Fragrant Isle shops also feature select lavender products from France, Italy and Spain that represent the finest the world has to offer. Visitors to both shops can watch videos featuring Fragrant Isle Lavender Farm on Washington Island, the blooming lavender, and an overview of the harvesting, processing and distillation processes.
Fragrant Isle is proud to be a Discover Wisconsin 2018 and 2019 Choice Destination and a 2019 Trip Advisor Award of Excellence recipient.
